UCHS Book Club Information Page

Why should I join?
The book club is a great place to make new friends and have great book conversations!  You will get the opportunity to meet new students through our joint book club, East Tennessee Bookworms.

What type of activities are involved?
We participate is group book reads, movie viewings, and book related field trips.  We participate in school service projects and promote reading.  We also work on reading our book list and plan our meetings and activities with East Tennessee Bookworms. Each year we attend the South Eastern Young Adult Book Festival at MTSU in March.

What is East Tennessee Bookworms?
ETB is a joint book club with Sullivan North High School.  We focus on reading the Volunteer State Book Award Nominees.  We meet three times during the year.  During those meetings, we play games and discuss the books we plan to read.  By the end of the year, we choose 10 books to focus on and we have an end of the year "Battle of the Books".   At this meeting, we compete to see who knows more about the books we read.  We have a party and play games at the end of the year.

Is there a membership requirements?

There are no requirements for membership and membership is open all year to 9-12th grades.

Is there a  required fee?

There are no required fees for the club.

How do we get the books?
It will be the members’ responsibility to obtain books (whether through libraries or bookstores)

Are there any requirements?

Do your best to read the books on our lists and as many as you can on your own. It's also very important to attend as many meetings as you can.

When will we have meetings?

Meeting times will be announced through Remind.  If you are an active member of book club, be sure to sign up.

Contact Ms. Keesecker if you have any additional questions.
