2018-2019 UCHS Library Policies
1. Book Checkout: Books may be checked out for two weeks and renewed once. Books must be renewed on or before the due date. The maximum number of books out at one time is three. You may use the self renewal option in Destiny Discover.*UPDATE: As of 8/24/20, you may put books on hold through your Destiny account. Please pick up books at the UCHS main office.
2. eBook Checkout: eBooks may be checked out through Destiny Discover. eBooks will be on loan for two weeks, then automatically returned to the library. You may check out two eBooks at a time.
3. Returning Library Materials: Please return library materials on time. All students must share materials. Please be considerate of others and return your borrowed items in a timely manner.
4. Overdue Books: Students who have an overdue library materials will not be allowed to check out any additional library materials until the item is returned.
5. Book Return: There are two book return locations. These are located at the end of the circulation desk and outside the library door on the right- hand side. *UPDATE: As of 8/24/20 please return library books to the UCHS main office.
6. Lost/Damaged Books: Students will be required to pay for lost/damaged books. If no price is available, $10.00 will be charged for hardback and $5.00 for paperback.
7. Fines: There will no fines for overdue books. Students who have overdue books will not be allowed to checkout any additional items until books have been returned. Invoices for unreturned books will be sent home at the end of each semester. Overdue notices will be sent to students each week via school email.
8. Holds for lost/damaged books: Report cards and diplomas can be held for overdue or lost/damaged books. (Overdue notices/invoices will be sent home to parents/guardians after each semester.)
9. Reference Materials: Reference materials are for library use only and may not be checked out.
10. Periodicals: May be used in the library and cannot be removed. (Use Flipster for our digital magazine collection)
11. Computer Printing and Copy Machine: Both are free. Please be selective when printing/copying. Please do not print an excessive amount of pages.
12. Electronic Communications: Library computers are to be used for research only. Please do not use social networks, or games.
13. Use During Class: If you need to do research during class, please have a pass from your teacher explaining your needs.
14. Library Hours: Hours are 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.
15. Library Etiquette: Please be considerate of others by maintaining a low noise level. Always put items back where they belong. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Karla Keesecker is a graduate of East Tennessee State University with a Master's Degree in Education/Media Specialist. She has over twenty years of experience as an English teacher and media specialist. She is currently a member of the Tennessee Association of School Librarians and serves as a member of the Volunteer State Book Award (YA 7-12) selection committee.
Objectives of the Library
1. Serve the students of Unicoi County High School by providing a stable environment in which to read, create, and study.
2. Provide support to the faculty and staff by assisting with research, class projects and any curriculum based needs.
3. To uphold the American Library Association's Library Bill of Rights.
